This photo above is taken with Smokey's horse Flash. Smokey also used the Simmonds horse, Bonnie, to ride in one of his promotions when Flash was sick, for the Queen's visit to Belmore Oval in Sydney. You had to be a good rider to ride Bonnie, and Smokey rode him well. Peter's father, Ken Simmonds, was a well known horseman, show judge, historical collector and restorer of horse buggies and sulkies.
