Son of Mary (Pickett) and Andrew Kirkland. Letter on the back of a card:
Dear Mother, Just a few lines to let you know I am ok. I got back at dinner time on Tuesday and was fined two pounds, but anyway, I am a bit better than I was. It has been a beast of a day, wind and dust enough to blind you. I got to Sydney about half past five and had to wait until half past seven for a train up. Well, I must close, as it is getting too dark to write. So I will sign off, trusting you are all ok.
